Sejerø

Sunny Island in Kattegat

On the island of Sejerø life moves at a slower pace, the sky is more visible - and you can feel complete calmness. You sail with the ferry from Havnsø. The crossing takes 59 minutes and you're suddenly very far away.

Here you can experience an idyllic village atmosphere around the pond, and the most beautiful scenery with beautiful beaches and small farms in the green hills. From the lighthouse to the north, there is a view all the way up to the island of Samsø. Put on your hiking boots or hop on a bike. There are small child-friendly roads, and the island is perfect for a stroll.

Sejerø Snaps

Nature in a bottle!

It tastes so good that angels will sing. It warms you all the way to your big toes - and as an added bonus the herbs have various good effects on you.
Herbal snaps can be made on almost all the herbs, flowers, shoots, roots and leaves, you can find in the outdoors.

Want to get started on making your own herbal snaps?, then there is help on Sejerø. Here snaps enthusiasts created the company Sejerø Snapselav.

Buy good commodities on Sejerø. Sejerø is said to be one of the areas in Denmark with the most sunshine and least amount of rain. And the many hours of sunshine and the salty sea air give the fruit, vegetables and meat a special flavour and quality.

Karl and Ella at the farm Nørrevangsgården grow vegetables famous throughout the Kattegat. Here’s fresh garlic with a green top to go with the salad, here are aromatic tomatoes, newly dug potatoes, sweet corn, strawberries, beetroot and large lush green bunches of parsley. And of course, lettuce, raspberries, dill, green asparagus’ and cucumbers.

- We start to harvest in the morning and the first fresh goods reach the shop at about 10 am, Ella says. It’s Karl, who digs, sows and does the weeding, while Ella does the picking and fills the shop.
- There is never anything left, our products are harvested the same day.
It is not organic, but it is cultivated with care. We eat it ourselves, you see.
